We are situated above in an idyllic Allegheny Mountain high altitude glade, along Old Field Fork of the Elk River. This valley used to be called "Pleasant Valley" of Pocahontas County. We are along US highway 219 8 miles North of Marlinton and 12 miles south of the bottom of Snowshoe Ski Mountain/ Great Mountain. To our west is Gauley Mountain and to our East are a host of 4000'mountains and 4600' Elk Lick Mountain lies to our South. We are in the heart of the Allegheny Highlands of West Virginia at 3200' and in the best place for growing and tending mountain suitable plants that we could find! We offer a wide variety of perennial plants, shrubs and trees for landscaping use. All of our plants are suited to the area we live, able to withstand the winters in zone 5. At times it can be zone 4 here and some of our plants are as hardy as zone 2. Temperatures as low as -30F have been recorded in this area as recently as 1994. We typically recieve 50-55" of annual average precipitation in rain and equivalent melted snow. We are familiar with this area, its plant communities and other plants that do well in landscape applications from here as well as other regions. Most of our plants can also be grown outside zone 5 from the Great Lakes and New England into the Carolinas and Lower Tennessee River Valley. |
